When the World Trade Center towers collapsed on September 11, 2001, a small hoard of 2001 Silver Eagle Dollars was buried in a vault deep within the rubble. Two months later, the vault was recovered … and miraculously, the coins emerged unharmed. They were taken immediately to PCGS, where they were certified and encapsulated as official World Trade Center Ground Zero Recovery coins. Each coin is a moving tribute to the heroes of 9/11, and it is one of the rare items that is legal to own from Ground Zero.
