Another note with a famous nickname, the “Tombstone” note bears the portrait of Thomas A. Hendricks inside a tombstone-shaped frame. The little known Hendricks served as Vice President under Grover Cleveland for less than a year before he died and was posthumously honored on this series of notes (Series of 1886 to 1908). Here we offer a Series of 1891 printing. This note grades as a Very Fine, but appears to have been washed.
