In 2008, the U.S. Mint introduced the limited-edition Bald Eagle commemorative Half Dollar. Issued to celebrate America's national symbol on the occasion of its removal from the Endangered Species List, the coins feature the most dramatic images of eagles ever to appear on U.S. coins.
