$1 Star Note Random Year
The Elusive 'Star Note'
"Star" notes replace regular U.S. bank notes that are damaged or otherwise removed from the printing process. When a printing error occurs during a normal press run and renders a set of bills unusable, star notes are used instead - using the star symbol as the final "letter" in the serial number. Since it is estimated that there is only about one error in every 100,000 U.S. bills, very few collectors ever manage to see, much less own even a single "star" note. But we have secured a nice hoard of U.S. $1 Star Notes in crisp uncirculated condition, exclusively for our Collectible America customers.
